𝔹𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕞 & 𝔾𝕣𝕠𝕨

The earliest birthday gift I can remember receiving was a paper white growing kit from my Aunt Holly. I didn’t really know what it was, but my mom helped me plant the bulbs, explaining to me that beautiful white flowers would eventually bloom. I remember having a very hard time believing her. But sure enough, tiny sprouts started poking through!
Each morning was spent racing down to that little pot, experiencing the little overnight miracle that took place.
I thought it was amazing that you could grow flowers inside in the middle of the winter. It was THAT little kit which sparked my interest in flowers and gardening (thank you Aunt Holly!). The following summer, my Mom took me outside and showed me a little spot around our front lamp post. This, she said, was to create my very first garden. The rest is history.
Over the years, when I see paper white bulbs for sale, I always buy them. A sweet little tradition that brings me back to my early homebody years.
A couple weeks ago, while shopping at Lowes, I found one pack left of paper white bulbs. Half off since they were past season. I couldn’t resist. I wasn’t sure they would grow, but I knew these little guys would need to find a home in the front window of my shop.
To my delight, they bloomed! As you pass by my store windows, take a peek inside. I think 6-year-old Cal would be very proud. You’ll see our little discount paper whites, adding a touch of spring to North Main. A tribute to young girl with big dreams.
