If she's a "homebody" and just about three weeks old, does that make her a "homebody"? "homegirl"?!

While we workshop her new title, we’d like to introduce you to our little lady, Charlotte Heidi 

She will carry on the name of Cody’s mama, an incredible woman we lost too soon. I recently framed a picture in Charlotte’s nursery. I think Cody was 3 months old at the time, smiling cheek-to-cheek with sweet Heidi. She looks vibrant and she squeezes her first born so close.

I’ve looked at and admired pictures like this picture forever, but on April 5th, the meaning shifted. It’s not just two happy people loving life. It’s a mom, COMPLETELY head over heels in love with this little life she helped create. Who knew this type of bond existed?! My sisters tried to warn me, but dang. Let’s just say I think I know why Heidi was smiling that big.

At nearly three weeks old, Charlotte is starting to watch the world bloom around her. I think I’m going to enjoy this springtime maternity leave. Yesterday we sat quietly in the yard watching our daffodils bloom. Have I ever sat still long enough to enjoy a moment like that?

I miss my Homebodies, and I’ll be back to our downtown stomping grounds soon, but in the meantime, you’ll find us learning how to slow down, adjusting to an ever-changing newborn routine and finding gratitude in all the little things.
